Hardwood Floor Installation - Laying a New Floor

01/27/2022

The first step in laying a new hardwood floor is to prepare the floor surface. Remove the base shoe molding and doors from the room. Measure to the opposite wall, leaving a gap of 3/4-inch for expansion. Afterward, install the floor boards. Make sure that each plank is level, and make sure to leave the first board's tongue away from the wall. Also, measure the length of the wall, leaving the spacers flush with the tops of the planks.

Once the flooring has been prepared, it's time to lay the baseboards. The floorboards overlap the baseboards, so they must be cut under the existing baseboards. You can then reinstall the baseboards once the flooring is installed. You can use quarter-round trim to finish the baseboards. This will keep them looking as nice as the new floor. You can then cover them with trim after installation.

If the subfloor is not solid, the wood floor refinishing company in fort lauderdale  will need to modify the subfloor and lay the hardwood flooring over the joists. The hardwood floor installation team should avoid creating H-shaped joints between the floor joists. The first row of the floor should be less than an inch wide. If the first row overlaps the second row by more than one-inch, the wood flooring installer must cut the first row in half.

Once the subfloor is prepared, the next step is to install the flooring. After preparing the subfloor, the installer should lay the asphalt-laminated kraft paper flooring underlayment. Once the materials are ready, they should be acclimatized to the humidity in the room. Once they have acclimatized to the humidity, the wood flooring must be sanded and finished. If the subfloor is not flat, the hardwood floor installation team should use an adhesive to stick the floors to the subfloor.

Once the subfloor is prepared, the hardwood floor refinishing in boca installer will begin laying the flooring. Then, the installer will remove the plastic wrap and lay the flooring on the floor. After setting the floors, the installer will reinstall the baseboards. If the subfloor is not level, the installer will butt the floorboards against the baseboards before installing the hardwood. Once the installation is complete, the installation crew will install the trim.

After the subfloor is ready, the hardwood flooring installer will bring the boxes to the home. He or she will remove the plastic wrap and lay the floorboards one-half inch apart. If the subfloor is uneven, the installer will need to cut the first row of flooring in half. Then, the contractor will put the floorboards overlapping the baseboards. Then, the installer will cover the baseboards with quarter-round trim. Explore more about wood flooring on this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_flooring.
